Carlos Martinez gives up four runs in five innings in loss to Reds

by Lucas Spence | Sun, Apr 4th 7:44pm EDT

Carlos Martinez wasn't at his best on Sunday, pitching only five innings (77 pitches) while surrendering four hits, four earned runs, and two walks to go along with four strikeouts in a loss to Cincinnati.

Fantasy Impact:

The 29-year-old right-hander was cruising along, allowing only one run through four innings, before Nick Castellanos crushed a three-run homer to center in the bottom of the fifth. The veteran was pitching pretty well until that mistake. Martinez will face Milwaukee next weekend and is a fringe option at best in mixed leagues for the time being.
