Kevin Kiermaier lands on IL with left quad strain

by Andersen Pickard | Blue Jays Correspondent | Tue, Apr 6th 2:37pm EDT

Kevin Kiermaier just can't catch a break. Just days into the 2021 season, Tampa Bay's outfielder has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a left quad strain. The injury occurred in the third inning of Monday's game against the Red Sox as the 30-year-old attempted to beat out a double play. (Adam Berry on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

A talented base-stealer and top-notch outfielder, Kiermaier is headed for his fifth IL placement over the past six seasons. Two of those prompted a trip to the 60-day injured list. The Rays surely hope this is a short-term injury and he can avoid an extended absence. The career .247/.306/.412 hitter currently ranks 114th among outfielders in the latest rest-of-season expert consensus rankings, with a bulk of his fantasy output coming on the basepaths.
