Tommy Pham goes 1-2 in first start since last weekend

Tommy Pham went 1-2 with a single, a walk, and a strikeout in the Padres' win over the Giants on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact:

Pham returned to the lineup on Saturday, after missing the past week with calf tightness. Pham wasted no time in his return, hitting a 112 MPH rocket off the left field wall in his first at-bat of the game. Pham's single was the hardest hit ball of the evening, and the fourth hardest hit ball of his career. Pham's average exit velocity and hard hit rate are both solid so far in 2021, but it hasn't resulted in much. Pham is hitting just .188 on the season with 0 home runs. That being said, Pham's current expected batting average is .264, so there are signs that Pham's numbers could make a jump soon. Pham is available in a lot of leagues, which is a sign people have lost faith due to his early season struggles. His advanced metrics are enough of a sign that he should be rostered in most leagues, and is worth holding on to if you have him. Playing matchups is fine for now, but there is a very real possibility that Pham could be a valuable everyday fantasy contributor by the end of this season.
