Brandon McCarthy exits the game with an arm injury

by Stan Son | Sat, Apr 25th 11:04pm EDT

Brandon McCarthy exited Saturday night's game with an arm injury. After serving up his second home run of the night to Justin Upton, McCarthy was shaking his pitching arm and motioned to the dugout. His final line: Five innings pitched, six hits allowed (three home runs), six earned runs, one walk, and four strikeouts. 55 of 80 pitches were thrown for strikes.

Fantasy Impact:

What a strange season for McCarthy. He's in the Top-10 for strikeouts but leads the league in home runs allowed with nine. He's helping fantasy teams in wins and strikeouts but hurting them in ERA and WHIP. The injury to his arm needs to be monitored carefully as he's had injury issues in the past. If healthy, McCarthy can help fantasy teams due to his elite strikeout rate and his home-run-allowed rate is unsustainable.
