The New York Yankees have signed outfielder Rafael Ortega to a minor-league deal. (Mark Feisand on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Seemingly out of nowhere, Ortega slashed .291/.360/.463 with 11 home runs and 12 stolen bases across 103 games for the Cubs at age 30 in 2021, good for a 122 wRC+. However, he was unable to build on that effort last season with a .241 average, seven homers, and a 96 wRC+ across 118 appearances. He could compete for a depth outfield role while his left-handed bat could prove fruitful at Yankee Stadium.
