Carlos Santana must improve his defense at first base

by Gavin Tramps | Twins Correspondent | Sun, Aug 16th 12:57pm EDT

1B/DH Carlos Santana will get the start at first base vs. Tommy Milone and the Twins on Sunday. He has been told by Indians' manager Terry Francona that his defense must improve if he wants to see more playing time at first base.

Fantasy Impact:

Carlos Santana has started five out of the last 12 games at first base and seven at DH. He faces increased competition for playing time from new additions to the roster - Jerry Sands and Chris Johnson. Also, with Jason Kipnis and Michael Brantley nursing shoulder issues, the Indians will want to give them the occasional start at DH. Santana, who has a .220/.328/.260 slash line in August, will need to use Francona's warning as a wake-up call to warrant his place in the lineup.
