Aaron Civale struggled mightily in Friday's matchup against the Mets, allowing seven earned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out five over 4 2/3 innings.
Fantasy Impact:
This performance ballooned his ERA to 6.14 and did little to reassure fantasy managers of his reliability. Despite a decent strikeout rate of 9.6 K/9 and a solid 3.90 strikeout-to-walk ratio this season, his inconsistency in run prevention is a significant concern. Civale's elevated 4.43 FIP suggests that some struggles may continue, and his 0.311 BABIP indicates he hasn't been extraordinarily unlucky. Fantasy managers should consider these factors heavily when deciding his role in their rotations moving forward.
