Carlos Gomez gets first season homer Sunday

by James Ignatius Zeankowski | Sun, Jun 5th 10:44pm EDT

Starting in center field Sunday in the series sweeping finale against the Oakland Athletics, Carlos Gomez had his most productive day at the plate so far in 2016. He went 2-for-4 with a late double and his first home run of the season. While also grounding out and reaching on a fielding error, Gomez has spiked his average up to .191 on the season.

Fantasy Impact:

Owners can now rejoice in the fact that Gomez has gotten his OPS above .500 for the first time in 2016. (It now currently sits at a .526) The veteran outfielder still ranks at a respectable #41 among active outfielders in fantasy leagues and is 66% owned. However, he desperately needs to keep a healthy hit streak going, or could face a huge decline in rankings, and potentially ownership as well. Owners should stand by and monitor what Gomez can do in the next few games.
