Chris Sale brilliant vs Mariners, but White Sox pen implodes

by Nicholas Ortiz | Braves Correspondent | Tue, Jul 19th 3:01am EDT

Chris Sale was razor sharp on Monday night. Sale went eight innings, giving up only one hit, and zero earned runs. Sale struck out six, while walking three. The White Sox were up 3-0 headed into the bottom of the ninth. Unfortunately, for Sale and the White Sox, the pen blew the lead in the ninth, as Adam Lind hit a walk off home run to lead the Mariners to a 4-3 victory.

Fantasy Impact:

Chris Sale looked on track for his major league leading fifteenth victory, but it was not to be, as the bullpen imploded. Sale has a impressive 3.18 ERA, with a 1.01 WHIP. He also has 129 strikeouts, in 133 innings of work. Sale has been a road warrior in 2016. In 10 starts on the road, he has a miniscule 2.08 ERA, holding opponents to a .513 OPS.
