Max Scherzer loses to Coors Field

by Chris Zolli | Rangers Correspondent | Tue, Aug 16th 6:42am EDT

Max Scherzer allowed four runs on seven hits in four innings, striking out three batters while walking two against the Rockies. Scherzer is 1-1 with a 3.79 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in August, striking out 24 batters in 19 innings. He has a 12-7 record and 2.95 ERA this season and will face the Braves on August 20.

Fantasy Impact:

Scherzer pitched poorly at Coors Field: there is no other excuse and no reason to fear that this appearance will lead to a poor end of the season for the ace. He leads the league with 211 strikeouts in 167 2/3 innings and is second in the National League with a 0.94 WHIP, registering eight consecutive quality starts coming into Monday. Current Braves have a .607 OPS in 239 at-bats, making Scherzer a prime candidate for a huge bounce back start.
