Max Scherzer shuts down Orioles

Max Scherzer allowed two hits and no walks in eight shutout innings, striking out 10 batters in a 4-0 win for the Nationals over the Orioles. Scherzer is 3-1 with a 3.24 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, and 40 strikeouts in 33 1/3 innings this month. He has a 14-7 record and 2.92 ERA this season and will face the Phillies in Philadelphia on August 30.

This makes five starts this season where Scherzer has struck out 10 or more batters without a walk, second-most in baseball (Clayton Kershaw).
