Lineups
Alvin Kamara's recent contract negotiations have sent many a fantasy fan into a state of panic, but it seems like the two sides are very close to a mutually beneficial deal. With the Saints hanging onto a closing Super Bowl window, I have little doubt Kamara will be on the field Week 1. He dealt with some brutal injuries last season and didn't look like the same player, but he should be back to full health and back to b eing a top-5 fantasy back. The record-breaking, all-time receiving performance by Michael Thomas over the past couple of seasons has been astonishing. He's quite clearly been the best receiver in the league as of late and he even proved he can succeed without Drew Brees last season. The Thomas and Brees combination is the most productive in the league by various metrics. Don't be afraid to invest a 1st-round pick in what should be another phenomenal season for Thomas.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Kamara and the Saints appear to be heading towards getting a contract extension done, but there are potential injury concerns hanging over Kamara and his season-long outlook. Kamara has already reportedly had an epidural to help with some ailments and that's extremely concerning. If you're still drafting this week, based on the information we have available to us, I'm moving Kamara down a couple of spots on my draft board. Kamara lands at RB6 right now with Dalvin Cook and Joe Mixon ahead of him in Half PPR format.Michael Thomas just put up the best season for a WR of all time and there's very little reason to doubt that he could put up another dominant performance in 2020. Even when Drew Brees went down, MT was still dominant with Teddy Bridgewater. Thomas is clearly the WR1 in drafts this season and it's not even close. If you want to build your fantasy team around Thomas, you're not going to find any complaints here...
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
The chess piece of the Saints' passing game, Kamara gets the ball on a variety of routes coming out of the backfield. He figures to receive a similar workload as last season with Latavius Murray expected to get in the neighborhood of 10 touches per game in 2020.After a remarkably steady 2017 during which he only twice failed to reach 50 receiving yards in a game but only twice went over 100 receiving yards, Thomas had five 100-yard games in 2018. He then exploded last season, setting a single season NFL record with 149 receptions. Although his numbers are bound to regress, it won't be enough to knock him from the top WR spot.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
Alvin Kamara had an absolute shocker in 2019. Despite no change in his rushing and receiving opportunities, Kamara dropped five points a game. There are myriad reasons for this massive change but most of them suggest a rebound is on the cards. Kamara battled knee and ankle injuries throughout last season and these really lowered his usually incredible efficiency and effectiveness. His TD numbers dropped by nearly a TD a game as well, which played a significant part in his drop in points. These should mostly regress, but it is worth noting his red zone looks halved last year and that will have an impact if things. Ultimately he's a great rebound candidate but he does come with some very real risk, especially given his recent holdout news. He's a very risky but high-upside pick in the first round. There's a very good chance Michael Thomas won't repeat as the fantasy WR1 in 2020. In fact the WR1 hasn't repeated since 2014. But is anybody else more likely to top all receivers in 2020? Absolutely not! The reality is that it's really hard to consistently churn out league-winning fantasy performances but Michael Thomas is rightly the consensus WR1. You can safely take him anywhere between 1.03 in PPR and 1.06 in non-PPR without any complaints from me.
Dalton Kates
APEX Fantasy Leagues
Coming off an RB9 season, but didn't play at full health. Elite pass-catcher out of the backfield in one of the most friendly fantasy RB situations out there. Expecting a bounce back to his elite PPR scoring.Elite WR with elite target share, elite QB play and elite efficiency in a top offense. No brainer top WR.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
There's just one running back who's had a higher "boom" percentage (25-plus PPR points) than Kamara over the course of their careers, and that's Christian McCaffrey. Kamara has now topped 25 PPR points in 14 of his 45 career games, which is quite ridiculous. His 2019 season was easily his worst to date, though he still finished as the RB12 despite missing two games. The Saints offense continues to groove, and though Drew Brees is still playing great football, his arm strength is declining, which could lead to more targets than every for Kamara, who's averaged 6.7 targets per game over the first three years in a Saints uniform. Provided he doesn't get hurt, Kamara is a near-lock to finish as a top-six running back.I'm not sure how many realize how rare Thomas' season was in 2019. He saw 185 targets on a team that threw the ball just 581 times. That's a ridiculous 31.8 percent target share. Just so you know, it's rare for a receiver to see a 25 percent target share. I've already stated in the Drew Brees paragraph that I expect this offense to throw just a bit less in 2020. Initial projections have them around 560 pass attempts, so bringing that down to even a 28 percent target share would force Thomas to lose about 28 targets. You can see why a repeat of last year's numbers are unlikely, especially when you factor in the arrival of Emmanuel Sanders as a rock-solid No. 2 receiver who'll garner more targets than Ted Ginn and/or Tre'Quan Smith would've. Still, Thomas is my WR1 heading into the season, because outside of injury, he's projected as my top receiver by a full 15 half-PPR points.
Frank Bonincontri
Fantasy Wire HQ
The addition of Emmanuel Sanders provides a bit more balance for the offense and will keep defenses honest. Kamara will not have to shoulder the workloadWR1 Set it & forget it
Rob Wilson
The Fantasy Footballers
Kamara cited an injury in 2019, his touchdown totals should increase and he's the focal point of one of the best offenses in football.Combination of route running, speed, and hands makes him the top threat underneath in football.
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
Kamara seems like one of the safest players in fantasy as long as he's on the field. Three consecutive years recording 81 receptions is incredible and Drew Brees is going to continue to target him constantly. My only fears are injury-related. If Kamara plays 16 games in 2020 he will easily finish as a top-5 back.Behind Davante Adams, you won't find a safer WR than Michael Thomas. He's essentially a lock for 100 receptions and has improved his TD numbers scoring nine in each of the last two seasons. If you're looking to go WR in the first, you can't go wrong with Thomas.
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Alvin Kamara apparently tore up his knee week 5 of 2019 which likely had a lot to do with "down" year. In this "down" year, he still ended as RB12. Now that he is healthy, he has as high of a ceiling as anyone.Tier of his own when comparing to other WRs. He is the alpha and clear #1.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Top 4 RB in each of 1st 2 NFL seasons before health and loss of QB Brees for 5 games helped sink him to RB No. 9 in '19 - give him a mulliganHas 70 more catches, 116 more receiving yards than any other player in NFL history thru their first 4 seasons
Justin Dodds

Despite going from 18 TDs to 6 TDs, Kamara still finished as the RB9 in FP/g in half PPR and the RB8 in FP/g in PPR while playing through injuries. If you give him the same amount of TDs he got in his rookie year (13), he would've gotten 42 (7x6) more fantasy points which would've put his half PPR total at 250 fpts, good for RB7 in half PPR and RB5 in PPR. Kamara with those totals would've averaged 17.9 fpts (250/14) and 21.4 fpts (300/14). Those totals would've been good for RB5 (0.5PPR) and RB2 (PPR). I expect Kamara to have closer to 13 TDs rather than 6 TDs, so use your first round pick on him confidently.Last season, MT beat the WR2 by 67 fpts and 100 fpts in half PPR and PPR, respectively. Thomas lead over the next best in receptions by 45 and 28 in targets, all while also being without Drew Brees for nearly 6 full games. Expect this dominance to continue in 2020 as the Saints have added only Emmanuel Sanders to the offense, who currently isn't expected to be involved all that much being ECR WR45 in half PPR.

Kamara was pretty disappointing in 2019, considering he was a Top-3 fantasy pick. He finished the year with 1,330 yards from scrimmage, but just 6 touchdowns. I think he is likely to rebound in 2020 and he should have RB1 value.Thomas broke Marvin Harrison's single-season reception record with 149 receptions in 2019. He also had 1,725 yards receiving and 9 receiving touchdowns, despite QB Drew Brees missing 5 games. Thomas is the best fantasy receiver in football, especially if Brees returns to New Orleans in 2020.

149/1725/9 . . . while playing with a backup QB for a good chunk of the season. That's all you need to know.

Alvin Kamara scored 106 less PPR points in 2019 than 2018. 84 of them were due to him only finding the endzone 6 times instead of 18 in 2018. -1,592 yards in from scrimmage in 2018 and 1,330 in 2019 -Caught the same amount of passes at 81 -Only had 2 TDs heading into Week 16Michael Thomas targets and fantasy ranks last three seasons: 2017: 149 targets - WR5 2018: 147 targets - WR6 2019: 185 targets - WR1

He's really been the same, consistent player since entering the league. 725-900 yards on the ground. 81 receptions EVERY.SINGLE.YEAR. The ups and downs have been based on health, TDs, and how productive he can be through the passing game.Averaging 117 receptions over his first 4 years. Not sure how you could rank him below 1 with Brees back.
