Ameer Abdullah in good shape, showing burst

NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero broke down the 2018 expectations for the Detroit Lions backfield and said that "I've been told that Abdullah showed up here in really good shape, they've seen a little bit of that burst he had two years ago." Pellissero also mentioned that Kerryon Johnson and LeGarrette Blount will have roles and that "the expectation is that Theo Riddick will still be the guy on third downs." (Tom Pelissero on Twitter )
Fantasy Impact:
This doesn't leave a lot of touches for Abdullah, burst or not. The former second-rounder wowed with some highlight reel preseason runs as a rookie but hasn't been able to stay healthy or have much of an impact in three NFL seasons. It might be best for all parties for Abdullah to wind up playing for another team in 2018, which certainly wouldn't hurt his fading fantasy value.
