Jimmy Garoppolo tears ACL, done for season

by Mark Leipold | Rams Correspondent | Mon, Sep 24th 3:20pm EDT

Jimmy Garoppolo's MRI results are back, and as the 49ers feared, show an ACL tear. Garoppolo suffered the non-contact injury during a run against the Chiefs. Garoppolo will miss the rest of the 2018 season. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Garoppolo should be fully healthy entering 2019, so there shouldn't be any concern long-term for Jimmy G. However, he will be done for all of 2018, which not only tanks his fantasy value, but that of all 49ers offensive players. The 49ers will now be led by C.J. Beathard, who was unimpressive in limited action in his rookie season last year. Expect the 49ers to struggle to move the ball, which will present fewer scoring opportunities, thus hurting RBs, WRs, and TEs alike. Bump everyone else down with the exception of perhaps George Kittle, who played his college ball at the University of Iowa with Beathard, and showed a bit of a connection last season.
