Vernon Davis got another start in Week 2 with Jordan Reed sidelined for a second consecutive contest with his concussion issues.
There is no telling how long often concussed tight end Jordan Reed will be in the league's concussion protocol. He has suffered far too many in his career to be rushed back onto the field, and the team doctors, for all of their controversy this offseason, appear to be playing it safe with him. Vernon Davis had a ho-hum three receptions for 29 yards in Week 2. He did leave the game briefly with an injury, but returned a few series later. Case Keenum has established his top three targets as Terry McLaurin, Chris Thompson and Trey Quinn so there may not be much week to week upside to be had from Davis. It is recommended that owners that are relying on Davis weekly take long and hard look at this week’s waiver wire.
