Drew Brees says he ‘plans’ to start Week 8

Drew Brees (thumb) said he plans to start Sunday’s Week 8 contest against the the Cardinals. Saints Head Coach Sean Payton said he might wait until Sunday to name the Saints starting quarterback. (Mike Triplett of ESPN.com)
Fantasy Impact:
Brees (thumb) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, but is showing positive signs of recovery from surgery on his right thumb on September 18th. The Saints are 6-1 and continue to thrive without Brees, giving the Saints no real reason to rush their star quarterback onto the field. The Saints will see how Brees’ thumb responds during practice and will ultimately make a decision on his status come Sunday.
