Aldon Smith agrees to one-year deal with Dallas Cowboys

by Mike Maher | Wed, Apr 1st 9:15pm EDT

Edge rusher Aldon Smith has agreed to a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys, according to a report from Jay Glazer on Twitter. Glazer adds that Smith is clean and sober now and has turned his life around during a lengthy absence from the NFL. Mike Garafolo reports that Smith gets a $2 million base value and $2 million in sack incentives. (Jay Glazer on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Smith was an incredible player early in his career and recorded 19 1/2 sacks in 2012, but he hasn't played in the league since 2015, so it is hard to know what to expect from him in 2020. A series of off-field and substance abuse issues derailed his career, but he is reportedly clean and sober and ready to make a comeback. This is an interesting low-risk gamble for the Cowboys who just lost Robert Quinn in free agency.
