Jerick McKinnon: 49ers' wanted to rest RB in Week 7

Jerick McKinnon rushed only three times for negative yardage and failed to attract a target in the passing game during the 49ers' 33-6 win over the Patriots in Week 7. (David Lombardi on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

According to head coach Kyle Shanahan, the 49ers' had planned to rest McKinnon all along due to the large workload he was given earlier in the season. That should explain why he was given only three total touches while watching the combination of Jeff Wilson Jr., JaMycal Hasty and Kyle Juszczyk go on to combine for 34 total touches in the win. Wilson did suffer an apparent high ankle sprain which should open the door for more work for McKinnon if he is forced to miss any time, though he is hard to trust at the moment. He is, however, worth a bench stash as the injuries to this 49ers' backfield are starting to mount up.
