Jimmy Garoppolo (foot) will not be placed on IR

The San Francisco 49ers will not place Jimmy Garoppolo on injured reserve. The team is hoping that they would be able to bring him back without using a return-form-IR designation. (David Lombardi on Twitter )
Fantasy Impact:
Garoppolo's best-case timetable is 7-8 weeks, which would allow him to return for a late playoff run. For fantasy managers, Garoppolo is safe to drop since he will be out for the rest of the fantasy season. Brock Purdy should be the starter moving forward with Josh Johnson serving as the backup.
