by Jordan Epp | Raiders Correspondent | Wed, Aug 16th 5:11pm EDT

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed that DT Christian Wilkins is conducting a hold-in in search of a new contract and that the Dolphins are entering contract discussions with Wilkins. (Omar Kelly on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Wilkins is entering his fifth season in the NFL after being a first-round pick in 2019. He is slated to play the 2023 season on his fifth-year option, which would pay him $10.753 million and set him up for free agency — or a franchise tag — in 2024. The price for star DTs has gone up recently with the signing of big names like Quinnen Williams, Daron Payne and Dexter Lawrence, so it would be in all sides' best interest to get a deal done. He led all DTs in tackles, run stops and run stop win rate in 2022, an important piece to Miami's defense.
