Fantasy Impact:
It was reported recently that Burns and Carolina's front office had stalled on long-term contract negotiations, and with Burns holding the leverage with the threat of walking, Carolina opted to place the tag. It's possible this move was made by Carolina to buy more time on their contract talks, but if things don't pan out, the Panthers could always opt to tag-and-trade the edge rusher — though he won't fetch the same value as the trade they turned down from the L.A. Rams.
