DeAndre Houston-Carson is a small school safety with big-play ability

by Paul Alan | Tue, Feb 16th 10:24am EST

As a captain for the William & Mary football team, safety DeAndre Houston-Carson made a name for himself with scouts nationwide. Despite playing for a small school, he started all four years and was extremely productive. His first three seasons were spent at cornerback before transitioning to safety for his final season. At 6'0", 200 lbs he has the prototypical size of an NFL defensive back. He is still new to the safety position and needs to improve as a downhill force in run support. While he reads plays well, his direct lines taken to the ball carrier leave for little adjustment. (NFL Network)

Fantasy Impact:

Houston-Carson is an intriguing second day prospect who will likely make a push to start instantly for his new team. Scouts compare him to Husain Abdullah of the Kansas City Chiefs.
