Jake Long retires

Free agent offensive tackle Jake Long has announced his retirement from the NFL.

Fantasy Impact

Long, the former No. 1 overall pick of the Miami Dolphins in the 2008 draft, has announced his retirement from the NFL after nine seasons in the league. After earning Pro Bowl honors in each of his first four seasons with the Dolphins, including being named first-team All-Pro in 2010, Long's career was derailed by injuries. While spending two years with the Rams from 2013-2014, Long had one-year stints with the Falcons and Vikings to close out his career.

Jake Long returns to free agency

In an update to a previous report, Jake Long, who previously was expected to sign with the Baltimore Ravens finds himself returning to the open market. The former first overall pick in the NFL Draft "declined" to sign an injury clause with Baltimore thus voiding the team's interest in Long.

Fantasy Impact

Jake Long returns to the free agent market after deciding against signing an injury waiver with the Ravens. Long appears to be healthy, but there hasn't been very much interest in the veteran tackle. It may take the injury bug to rear its head before Long catches on with another club.

Jake Long signs with Ravens

Former first-overall draft selection OL Jake Long agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact

The Baltimore Ravens added offensive line depth by signing Jake Long to a one-year deal. The four-time Pro Bowl tackle tore his ACL in consecutive seasons leading up to 2016 and could make an impact coming off the bench in Baltimore. Ronnie Stanley is currently in place to protect Joe Flacco's blindside but Long adds a proven insurance policy if the rookie should struggle.

Jake Long speaks on his current health status

Former No. 1 overall pick Jake Long (ACL) told ESPN that he is "finally healthy." "This is the healthiest and best I've felt in probably about five, six years. My knee's back. I've just been working out, feeling good and ready for the opportunity when it comes along," Long said.

Fantasy Impact

Jake Lng remains on the open free agent market as the training camp portion of the offseason approaches. Long only appeared in four games in 2015 with the Falcons in a backup role. Long hasn't garnered very much interest from teams around the NFL with the exception of the Bears, who brought the former top overall pick in for a visit earlier in June. The Giants and Seahawks are organizations to monitor as they appear to have needs at the left tackle position and could bring Long in for a workout and physical.
