Jacob Wayne Lineups | Adam Gase and the Jets seem intent on not giving Le'Veon Bell the full workload despite their massive investment in him as they drafted LaMichal Perine and signed Frank Gore this offseason. Bell is still the clear starter and his involvement in the passing game will stabilize his fantasy value, but I'm already going to have issues trusting the Jets' offense and against the stout Bills defense, I'm looking elsewhere in Week 1. | With Darrell Henderson likely not playing in Week 1, Cam Akers carries some intriguing upside. Malcolm Brown is reportedly set to start, but the Rams wouldn't have spent a 2nd-round pick on Akers if they didn't expect him to take over at some point this season. This is going to be a frustrating backfield, but Akers has the highest upside and is worth a look in Week 1 against a middling Cowboys run defense. |
Isaiah Sirois FantasyPros | I refused to fade Bell all offseason, and I'm not going to start now. The Bills surrendered 17.95 PPR points per game to Bell last year! While about two-thirds of those points came in one game, I'm still optimistic that Bell can post RB2-type numbers in PPR. After all, head coach Adam Gase wants to feature him more in the passing game, and that both plays to his strengths and increases his reception-based floor.
Kyle Yates FantasyPros | Akers is an intriguing play this week with Darrell Henderson potentially limited with an injury. If Henderson is reportedly fully healthy, Akers moves from a back-end RB2 in my rankings to a FLEX option. However, in what should be a high-scoring matchup, Akers deserves to be in consideration for your starting lineup in some form or fashion.
Derek Lofland FantasyPros | I think Bell will do better this year than he did last year, but that may not show in Week 1. Bell starts the season off on the road against the 12th ranked fantasy running back from 2019. | The Cowboys were 13th against fantasy running backs, but this is a new scheme and it remains to be seen how the Rams will divide up their carries in one of the deepest RBBC in the NFL. |
