With another week of the NFL season officially in the books, it’s time to check in on how the fantasy experts performed with their week 2 rankings. We’ll examine how the accuracy leaderboard is shaping up by position, based on our scoring methodology called PAY™, and take you under the hood to see how each expert raced ahead of the pack.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at the top 5 experts (out of 39) for each position.

Notes:
- One of the key factors in the strong performance from Fantasy Sharks was that they did a better job than any other site of ranking week 2’s top RB, Jahvid Best. They had Best pegged as a breakout performer, ranking him as their RB #5 while the Expert Consensus Rank (ECR) for Best was much lower at RB #20.
- The foresight to give Best a high ranking was far from the only reason for Fantasy Shark’s accuracy success, however. They also did a good job of consistently ranking the top performers ahead of the Expert Consensus. For example, of the top 10 fantasy RBs in week 2, Fantasy Sharks outperformed the consensus with their predictions for 7 of the players. This type of consistency across the rankings is ultimately what gave Fantasy Sharks its overall edge in RB accuracy.
- Speaking of consistency, it’s notable that Ultimate FFStrategy was the only site to crack the top 5 for both week 1 and week 2. This is important since we’re primarily interested in determining which experts are the most accurate with their weekly predictions over the course of the whole season. So kudos to Ultimate FFStrategy for this distinction as it currently earns them the #1 position in the YTD accuracy standings for the RB position.

T-5. | Erik Kuselias – ESPN
Brad Richter – RotoPilot |
66.1% | 5. | David Dodds – FootballGuys | 61.1% |
Notes:
- Simply put, it was the week of FootballGuys at the WR position with Sigmund Bloom and David Dodds taking home the top two accuracy honors. We can only hope that FootballGuys subscribers took advantage of this solid advice!
- The important thing to note about Bloom’s picks was that his success wasn’t just the result of nailing the top players. Sure, he had Andre Johnson pegged correctly as his WR #1 but so did most other experts. Bloom’s true advantage was that he did an excellent job of managing the middle and lower portion of his rankings. This is something we consider important when evaluating accuracy scores because the players in these spots are often involved in the tough start/sit decisions that fantasy owners must make.
- Both Bloom and Erik Kuselias are the only experts to have made it into the top 5 for both weeks 1 & 2. Not surprisingly, they occupy the top 2 slots in the YTD leaderboard as a result. Of course, it’s still too early in the season to draw any definitive conclusions about who the most accurate experts will be over the long haul but both Bloom and Kuselias deserve credit for getting off to a great start at the WR position.
QB Accuracy Scores

Rank | Expert | PAY™ | Rank | Expert | PAY™ |
1. | Josh Moore – 4for4.com | 89.0% | 1. | Josh Moore – 4for4.com | 80.7% |
2. | David Dodds – FootballGuys | 88.0% | 2. | Sigmund Bloom – FootballGuys | 79.4% |

4. | Gregg Rosenthal – Rotoworld | 83.3% | 4. | Staff Rankings – FantasyFootballCafe | 75.3% |
5. | Sigmund Bloom – FootballGuys | 83.1% | 5. | Ryan Lester – Lester’s Legends | 74.4% |
Notes:
- The first thing to note is that this was a very strong week of accuracy at the QB position with the average PAY™ of the 39 experts in our field coming in at 74.1%. To put this in perspective, only two experts had a PAY™ higher than that last week (Ryan Lester – Lester’s Legends & Sigmund Bloom – FootballGuys). This goes to show just how volatile predictions can be across the board on a week to week basis.
- Credit goes to Josh Moore from 4for4.com for landing the best result in such a highly competitive week. With a PAY™ of 89%, Moore rarely faltered with his QB picks. Of the top 10 fantasy QBs for week 2, he had 8 players pegged as well or better than the Expert Consensus. He also did a good job of managing the middle of his list by anticipating below average performances from Tom Brady, Joe Flacco and Brett Favre.
- Despite the high accuracy scores, one surefire way for the experts to fall down the standings in week 2 was to have given Vince Young (-2.2 fantasy points), Brett Favre (1 fantasy point) and Joe Flacco high rankings. This proved to be no problem for Mike Krueger from FFToday. He was responsible for handing each player their worst ranking and this helped propel Krueger to a top 3 finish for the week.
TE Accuracy Scores

Rank | Expert | PAY™ | Rank | Expert | PAY™ |
1. | Ryan Lester – Lester’s Legends | 88.1% | 1. | Ryan Lester – Lester’s Legends | 81.4% |
2. | Site Rankings – FanHouse | 87.1% | 2. | Jamey Eisenberg – CBS Sports | 80.9% |
3. | Jamey Eisenberg – CBS Sports | 85.7% | 3. | Site Rankings – FanHouse | 80.7% |

5. | Josh Moore – 4for4.com | 84.1% | 5. | Josh Moore – 4for4.com | 78.4% |
Notes:
- Last week’s top QB prognosticator, Ryan Lester, took home the honor as the expert with the most accurate TE rankings in week 2. Similar to the other accuracy winners, Lester had the best score not only because he got the top guys right but also because he did a good job of slotting players in the middle and lower portion of his rankings.
- Lester also turned in one of the best picks of the week as the only expert to rank Dustin Keller in his top 10. This turned out to be an important pick since Keller went on to become the 2nd highest scoring fantasy TE for the week.
- There was a fair amount of turnover with the week 2 TE standings with only Jamey Eisenberg from CBS Sports making the top 5 both weeks. Despite Eisenberg’s consistency in the early going, Ryan Lester occupies the #1 position in the YTD TE rankings based off of his strong showing this past week.
