There were a lot of people, including myself, who were riding the Jameis Winston hype train this offseason and drafted him in the later rounds as a viable streaming option. “He’s going to settle in this year and really bring that offense together,” said everyone. Well, everyone was wrong.

So far this season, Winston has thrown for almost 1,600 yards, 12 TDs (also one rushing TD), and a whopping nine interceptions. I repeat, NINE interceptions. In case you were wondering, that’s tied with Blake Bortles for the third-most interceptions in the league behind Ryan Fitzpatrick with 11 and Case Keenum with 10. Winston’s lack of success isn’t entirely his fault, however. Tampa Bay’s running back injuries certainly haven’t helped their overall success and while he does have Mike Evans as his top receiving option, Winston’s next best option is a toss-up between Adam Humphries and Cameron Brate. Gross.
“But Jonathan, I thought this article was about why I SHOULD trust Jameis Winston?”
Don’t fret, friends. You definitely should trust Jameis moving forward because of these three words: strength of schedule.
Jameis Winston has definitely had his struggles, but he has the fifth-best QB schedule for the rest of the season with games against Oakland, Atlanta, Chicago, and San Diego. That’s not even the best part.
The main reason why you should grab Winston is his playoff schedule. Winston’s schedule for Weeks 14-17 is New Orleans, Dallas, New Orleans, and Carolina. There’s only one other QB in the entire league that has three matchups against bottom eight defenses and his name is Philip Rivers. With Tampa Bay’s run game returning to form as well as his favorable schedule, Winston should be a top-value QB streaming option and owners should try and acquire him. Get him, start him, and watch him lead your fantasy team to a championship.
