Daily Pitcher Overview 7/21 (Start/Sit, Streamers, DFS)

We get another full 15-game Friday this week, and this time, it is filled with aces and a few cheaper high-upside plays. I’ll give you my favorite GPP options and all of my start/sit recommendations for season-long leads, but first, let’s start with my top streamer of the day.

Top Streamer

Matt Garza (MIL @ PHI)

If you are in a more shallow league and the likes of Trevor Cahill, Ian Kennedy or even C.C.  are available in your league, for pete’s sake, pick them up over Garza. I use a general rule of thumb to not recommend anyone who is available in less than 70% of leagues so Garza is the option by default. There is plenty of risk here and he doesn’t strike anyone out, but he is generally a good bet for decent ratios and that’s the best we can hope for here.

Top DFS Cash Game Option

Alex Wood (LAD vs ATL)

The Dodgers finally lost last night after another big winning streak. Still, they are 31 for their last 36 and have great odds for Alex Wood to pick up the W against the rookie, Aaron Blair, tonight. Atlanta isn’t especially easy to strike out and they aren’t the worst at scoring runs either, but Wood is just too good to pass up tonight in such a heavy favorite game with him being $1,600 and $1,400 cheaper than Chris Sale and Max Scherzer.

Top DFS Tournament Option

Aaron Nola (PHI vs MIL)

Nola is the fifth most expensive arm on the list, so I’ll bet you he gets overlooked in ownership percentage with the likes of Yu Darvish being just $600 more and players like Jeff Samardzija, Trevor Cahill and especially Trevor Bauer on the cheaper side. Nola is  a slight favorite tonight according to Vegas and a good bet to keep the runs to a minimum while picking up a quality win. The best part, however, is the double-digit strikeout upside against a strike-out happy team. If he does off for 60 FanDuel points and you are one of 3% who owns him then you are sitting pretty.

Start/Sit Table

Guide

*All stats based on our daily projections
OWN – ownership % between ESPN and Yahoo!
Score – Based on an algorithm that weighs if their ratios are too high to offset the odds of them getting a win and add strikeouts to your team totals
Recommendation – For Roto and H2H season-long leagues
DFS Cash – Not based on value, but performance only. Heavily favors ratios and odds at getting the win and quality start
DFS GPP – Not based on value, but performance only. Built to focus more on strikeout potential and stamina
*The table is sorted by their season-long fantasy appeal

Thanks for reading and good luck today!
