This season has been filled with surprises, as we’ve grown accustomed to with fantasy football. Just to remind you of how difficult it is to predict fantasy football, just consider that the top three fantasy quarterbacks so far have been Alex Smith, Deshaun Watson and Carson Wentz. None of those players were selected in the top 140 picks on average. While that of course means that no one has been perfect, or even close to it, you get some perspective when you realize that some experts have set themselves apart from the rest of the pack week in and week out by forecasting many of these surprise performances. Today, we’ll take a look at the top 10 most accurate experts at the mid-point of the season. As always, you can check out the entire standings in our accuracy section.

As many of you have surely come to realize, Sean Koerner (STATS) has been the model of consistency. This season, he has finished in the top 30 (out of over 110 experts) six of eight weeks including three top 10 appearances. If that wasn’t enough, he has finished #10, #2, #1 and #1 in the contest in his four years of competing. He has accomplished his success this year by placing #2 in quarterback rankings accuracy and #1 at wide receiver. The overall grade does not consider kicker rankings or defense rankings because enough of the field does not rank those positions, but among those who do, Koerner is #1 and #9 out of 76 and 83 experts respectively. His continued success has been truly remarkable and major congratulations are due for another terrific start.
Although Sean is a force to be reckoned with, holding his lead over the second-half of the season won’t be an easy task. KJ (Fantasy Team Advice) is right behind him, placing top 10 in rankings accuracy at the running back position, wide receiver and tight end so far. Following KJ up are some familiar faces including John Paulsen (4for4.com) who has been a top five finisher five out of six seasons and Jake Ceily (Roto Experts) who has finished no worse than #12 each of the past four seasons. Well done to each of them and some of the newer faces in this year’s mid-season top 10 most accurate experts.
Week 8 Results
Each week in this competition is a grind as late-breaking news and the smallest details in analysis can make the difference between finishing in the top 10 or ending up in the bottom half of the field. Last week, we saw Seattle and Houston turn a 46 point over/under into 79 points, while Isaiah Crowell and Juju Smith-Schuster busted out for big games. Let’s take a look at the top 10 most accurate experts from Week 8, who for the most part, had an idea that some of those wild outcomes might be in order.
Daily Roto’s Staff Rankings came in at #1 because he had the top set of rankings for quarterbacks, #3 for wide receivers and top 30 for both running backs and tight ends. They managed this success by aggressively ranking Russell Wilson as their #2 quarterback as well as Isaiah Crowell and Alex Collins as startable running backs. All three of these rankings, among many of their other rankings, were far ahead of the expert consensus rankings. This performance jumped them up to #11 overall and #1 at the quarterback position on the season. Well done Daily Roto and best of luck putting forth a big Week 9 to sneak into the overall top 10.
