Yu Darvish struggles against Indians Monday

by Steve Painter | Padres Correspondent | Mon, Apr 3rd 11:20pm EDT

Yu Darvish, pitching in his first Opening Day start, struggled against the Indians over 6 1/3 innings Monday night. He allowed four hits and four runs (all earned) while walking five and striking out four. The team gave Darvish a 5-1 lead in the third and he let it slip through his hands but the Rangers still had a slim one-run lead when he left the game. A normally reliable bullpen faltered as well, leading to an 8-5 loss. Darvish was not a factor in the decision. He next faces the Athletics at home on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact:

This was just one of those games when the pitching was off, and that's it. I'm still very bullish on Darvish and believe he'll have a tremendous year. And it's very unusual for Sam Dyson to have an off-night, so Darvish is safe, both for Wins and Quality Starts, going forward. On the DFS side, he is worthy of consideration anytime he takes the mound.
