Trevor Bauer notches season high in Ks

by Carmen Maiorano | Sun, May 27th 7:27pm EDT

Trevor Bauer was magnificent Sunday against the Astros, striking out 13 batters over 7 1/3 innings pitched. His stat line does not look pretty (four earned runs), but the Indians bullpen imploded with his runners on base. He only allowed five hits and two walks in the outing. The Indians eventually came back to beat the Astros in 14 innings, 10-9.

Fantasy Impact:

Bauer was fantastic today, but there are some long-term risks with Terry Francona overusing him - he threw 127 pitches (79 for strikes). Given the Tribe's bullpen woes, Francona did not have much choice but to leave Bauer out there for as long as he could. Even with the four earned runs, Bauer's ERA sits at 2.61 after today's game, with 86 Ks in 72 1/3 innings. He will face the Twins on the road in his next outing.
