Will Smith blows save but earns win in relief Saturday

by Mike Maher | Royals Correspondent | Sun, Aug 16th 10:38am EDT

Braves reliever Will Smith entered a 1-0 game in the eighth inning in Saturday's game against the Marlins and gave up a game-tying solo home run to Monte Harrison. That was the only damage he allowed, however, and he earned the win after the Braves scored what would eventually be the winning run in the top of the ninth inning.

Fantasy Impact:

Mark Melancon has yet to allow a run through seven appearances this season and appears to be locked in as Atlanta's closer, so Smith will likely be relegated to setup duty. He could see the occasional save opportunity on days where Melancon is unavailable.
