Adam Wainwright holds Padres to two runs over six innings

by Lucas Spence | Sun, Sep 19th 9:51am EDT

Adam Wainwright registered yet another quality start on Saturday, his 21st of the season, when he held the mighty Padres lineup to just seven hits and two runs in six innings while striking out two in a no-decision.

Fantasy Impact:

Wainwright was looking at a tough-luck loss as the Cardinals trailed 2-1 in the eighth inning before a dramatic Tyler O'Neill home run propelled them to a comeback victory. Wainwright sits at 16-7 on the season with one of the most impressive seasons from a 40-year-old in MLB history, boasting a spectacular 2.89 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. Wainwright has been the absolute definition of "league winner" in fantasy leagues this year given where he was drafted this spring (or not drafted at all). He'll get the Brewers next.
