Zack Wheeler doesn't make it out of the fifth inning on Wednesday

by Dan Harris | Phillies Correspondent | Wed, Jun 22nd 7:28pm EDT

Zack Wheeler allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits and three walks over 4 1/3 innings on Wednesday against the Rangers. He struck out eight and took the loss, falling to 6-4.

Fantasy Impact:

Wheeler's outing was his shortest since his second start of the season, and although he didn't pitch well, he was not helped out by his defense. He had just 12 whiffs on his 99 pitches, and his three walks were just one off his worst mark of the season. Still, Wheeler didn't hurt fantasy managers too badly with this start and limited the damage as best he could playing in front of one of the worst defenses in the game. He'll take his 2.77 ERA and 1.11 WHIP into his next start against the Braves.
