Ichiro Suzuki keeps moving towards history

by Chris Zolli | Tue, Jun 14th 7:54am EDT

Ichiro Suzuki had three more hits on Monday, finishing 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored, and is now 25 hits away from 3000 hits in his MLB career. More impressively, when combining his statistics from Japan to those accrued in the United States, Ichiro sits only one hit behind Pete Rose in becoming the all-time hit king. Suzuki is hitting .350 this season.

Fantasy Impact:

The fact that Ichiro is creeping up on history is a great story, but the bigger point for fantasy owners is that the 42-year-old is still a viable fantasy option in 2016. He has a .424 batting average in 33 June at-bats, scoring eight runs, and has contributed with six stolen bases this season as well. He has never faced Drew Pomeranz, the Padres' starter on Tuesday, but has a .381 batting average against left-handed pitchers this season.
