Fantasy Impact:

Smith, the Cowboys' second-round pick in 2016, missed his entire rookie season with a severe knee injury suffered in a bowl game. Although he is still recovering from the injury, he is back on the field training and running, which is a good sign for his future. Smith also told the media that "the nerve that has affected his left foot is continuing to improve and he hopes to not need a brace when the season starts." Brace or no brace, Smith is fully expected to make his NFL debut in Week 1 against the Giants, barring an injury setback of course. He is worth a look in fantasy leagues that include IDP as his upside is sky high on a team desperate for marquee defensive contributors.
