Devonta Freeman cut by the New Orleans Saints

Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Saints have cut veteran RB Devonta Freeman. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Freeman was added back in early August by the Saints as a potential depth piece at RB for New Orleans, but as it turns out that will not be the case. It remains to be seen how many RB's the Saints will carry but given Freeman couldn't beat out Latavius Murray, who has been discussed as a potential cut as well, it's not a good sign. Freeman, 29-years old, spent 2020 with the Giants as a backup where he missed time due to injury and ultimately finished with 54 carries for 172 yards. At this point in his career Freeman looks to mainly be a deep depth piece at RB for teams and will seemingly only be viable if there are multiple injuries to a RB room. Freeman is not on the fantasy radar for 2021 or going forward.
