Mike Evans, Buccaneers far apart on contract extension

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and WR Mike Evans reportedly still “remain far apart” on contract talks, with Evans “trending toward” becoming a free agent. (Jordan Schultz on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
The Buccaneers will take on about an additional $7.4 million in dead cap in 2024 via void years this season from Evans’ previous deal by not working out an extension to reallocate the money before the Monday, Feb. 19 deadline. With the new league year approaching, the Buccaneers feel the pressure to get a deal done with Evans before he becomes a free agent, especially with the team likely preferring to use their franchise tag elsewhere, like with safety Antoine Winfield Jr.
