DeAngelo Williams to start for Steelers in Le'Veon Bell's absence

by Anthony Cervino | Sat, Jul 23rd 8:29am EDT

In the wake of Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell's looming four-game suspension, DeAngelo Williams is expected to start for the club in the troubled rusher's absence for the first quarter of the 2016 regular season. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

DeAngelo Williams will likely once again obtain the starting running back job to open the season in Pittsburgh as Le'Veon Bell faces a four-game suspension. Bell not only missed the first two games of 2015 due to a similar ban, but he also was placed on injured reserve after only appearing in six contests. Williams had his best statistical season since 2009 last year. He rushed for 907 yards and 11 touchdowns including four 100-yard rushing games. In the upcoming fantasy football campaign, Williams should be selected in the mid-rounds of the draft as a solid four-week starter and as Bell's handcuff. Williams could also see an increase in his playing time throughout the season in the event that Pittsburgh wants to keep the explosive Bell fresh for a postseason run.
