Mark Ingram struggles in third preseason game

by Jake Stern-Powell | Sat, Aug 27th 12:10am EDT

Behind a less than stellar offensive line, Mark Ingram struggled for 17 yards on seven carries in the Saints' third preseason game.

Fantasy Impact:

There was some hope that Ingram would become more engaged in the passing game after last season's 50 receptions in 12 games, but not only did he not start the game (that duty belonged to C.J. Spiller, although Ingram came in on the second snap) but he failed to register a single reception. You don't want to put too much stake in one preseason game, but being the least targeted receiving option in a backfield never bodes well for true running back dominance. Ingram remains a number one running back in fantasy, but keep an eye on those early-season targets and whether this trend continues.
