Bills quarterback Josh Allen will play during the team’s upcoming preseason game against the Broncos, head coach Sean McDermott told Mike Giardi of NFL Network. He added that Allen and most other starters will play a “healthy amount.” (Source: Mike Giardi on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Allen sat out the preseason opener. He has produced QB1 finishes in back-to-back seasons, including a 2021 campaign in which he totaled 4,407 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. He also added 763 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground. The 26-year-old remains the consensus QB1 entering 2022.
49ers quarterback Trey Lance is unlikely to play in Saturday’s preseason game against the Vikings, head coach Kyle Shanahan told Matt Barrows of The Athletic. He added that the decision is not set in stone and could hinge on Lance’s performance in practice on Thursday. (Source: Matt Barrows on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Lance, the 49ers’ starting quarterback in 2022, looked solid last week, going 4-for-5 with 92 passing yards and one touchdown. His mobility gives him plenty of upside in fantasy football, which leads to his rank as the QB11 in the latest ECR.
Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said Thursday that quarterback Trevor Lawrence would start the second preseason game on Saturday and play into the second quarter against the Steelers. (Source: Jacksonville Jaguars on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Peterson said Lawrence and the rest of the first team offense will play into the second quarter to work on “execution” and “clean up some things.” Lawrence enters his sophomore season working on his second offense in two years in the NFL and third offense in three years if you go back to his Clemson days. Lawrence is also getting used to his new toys, i.e. newcomer Christian Kirk and a healthy Travis Etienne, Jr., and can use all the game-speed reps he can get after an underwhelming rookie season. Lawrence, in his new look offense geared around his strengths, has the potential to have a breakout fantasy season, and make fantasy managers who take the leap of faith in drafting him very happy on their returns.
Mark Andrews will not play in Sunday’s preseason game against the Cardinals according to The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec. (Source: Jeff Zrebiec on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Mark Andrews is one of several Baltimore veterans, including quarterback Lamar Jackson, that will not play in Sunday’s preseason game in Arizona. Andrews has not played yet this preseason after sitting out last Thursday’s preseason opener against Tennessee. Andrews should still be the first or second right end (Travis Kelce) off the board on draft day and should hit the ground running in Week 1, even if he ends up playing zero snaps this preseason.
