NFL Preseason Week 1 DFS Lineup Advice: Thursday (8/11)

NFL Preseason Week 1 DFS Lineup Advice: Thursday (8/11)

Week 1 of NFL preseason football is here and we get to start our 2022 DFS journey with a two-game slate. The first shot at DFS contains games between the Tennessee Titans heading to the Baltimore Ravens and the New York Giants heading north to face the New England Patriots. The most important advice you can receive during preseason slates is to lean towards the cash game lineups or even 50/50s and Double Ups. Trying to figure out a preseason slate to take down an entire GPP play in the regular season is hard enough, let alone in the preseason. So before we break down the best plays to run with for your lineups, we suggest betting a small amount of your payroll and sticking to cash lineups.

With both games landing right next to each other with Over/Under (OU) totals this week, Titans/Ravens (31.5) & Giants/Patriots (33.5), we can spread the wealth throughout the plays for our DraftKings DFS lineups evenly.

Fantasy Football Redraft Draft Kit

CORE PLAYS

Tyler Huntley (QB – BAL): $5,500 vs Ten

With this being Week 1 in the preseason, you won’t see names such as Lamar Jackson or Ryan Tannehill in these sections. They should barely play more than a series if they even play at all. Therefore we move into the reserves to see who will be the best play for our lineups. One of my favorites is the end of 2021 darling Tyler Huntley. When filling in for Jackson last season, Huntley showed us he could be a mini Lamar Jackson and provide the Konami code mobility we love to have in our DFS lineups. The Titans’ defense allowed the seventh most passing yards and ninth most Draftking points to the QB position in 2021. I believe Huntley should provide you with the fantasy points you desire from the position.

Malik Willis (QB – TEN): $5,500 vs Bal

If you are looking for a quarterback who may have more playing time in the Thursday slate, you must look across the field at Malik Willis. Willis is another QB who can provide the Konami code upside. He also needs reps at the position to acclimate to the NFL game; Willis should give a lengthier playing time while facing a Ravens defense that allowed the third most DraftKings points and passing touchdowns to the QB position.

Patriots DEF $5,500 vs NYG

It’s not my typical approach to recommend a defense. However, in these two games, the Patriots defense has a chance at home to create pressure against a new head coach and average offensive line.

Cash Game Targets

Tylan Wallace (WR – BAL): $5,500 vs Ten

With James Proche missing practice Tuesday, the Ravens could sit him in this first exhibition. However, this move will allow players like Tylan Wallace a chance to stay on the field for longer. With Bateman having limited to no snaps, take this swing on a Ravens receiver facing one of the worst secondaries in the league in 2021.

GPP Targets

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine (WR – TEN): $5,500 vs Bal

The Ravens allowed the third most points to the wide receiver position in 2021. However, with all eyes focusing on Treylon Burks and camp sensation Kyle Philips, Westbrook-Ikhine could sneak into lineups as a veteran player who can outshine his opposing defense.

Tyquan Thornton (WR – NE): $5,500 vs NYG

The Patriots have a slew of talent at the wide receiver position. However, with Thornton’s high draft capital, the Patriots may use this time to evaluate their young prospect. After missing on N’Keal Harry, Bill Belichick should focus on his young wide receiver.

Punt Plays

Geoff Swaim (TE – TEN): $5,500 Vs Bal

The Ravens struggled with tight ends last year, allowing the fifth-most touchdowns to the position. Tight end is usually a punt play and can be combined with Malik Willis to allow for a stacking upside.

Collin Johnson (WR – NYG): $5,500 vs NE

Collin Johnson has been a Twitter darling for some time. Although he never put it together in the past. His veteran skill set could shine in this early preseason game.

Hassan Haskins (RB – TEN): $5,500 vs Bal

Derrick Henry will not be playing this preseason. So Mike Vrabel now has the luxury of time to evaluate his young rookie running back.

Pierre Strong (RB – NE): $5,500 vs NYG

We know about Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson in this backfield, but with James White struggling to come back from injury, can another running back step up into that role? Pierre Strong should have a solid chance to show his coach that he can join this backfield weekly.
