Buster Posey is slated to be the Giants "primary catcher" in 2021, per manager Gabe Kapler. He also noted that Posey, who opted out of the 2020 season, added some muscle in the offseason. (John Shea on Twitter)
Posey should be well rested after taking the season off but Kapler didn't specify how many games a week he would catch. At age 33, he won't be behind the plate every game and promising prospect Joey Bart figures to be in the mix as well. It remains to be seen how playing time will be distributed but Posey is sure to begin the season as the team's starting backstop.
