Joakim Soria melts down in the ninth inning on Saturday

by Jon Mathisen | Sun, Jun 13th 12:01pm EDT

RHP Joakim Soria blew the save and took the loss on Saturday when he surrendered three runs on four hits over one inning pitched as the Diamondbacks lost to the Angels 8-7.

Fantasy Impact:

Soria got the rare save opportunity for Arizona on Saturday night after Stefan Crichton pitched earlier in the contest. The D-Backs were clinging to a one-run lead in the top of the ninth inning before Soria surrendered a double, a single, and a sacrifice fly to tie the game. He then coughed up back-to-back doubles to give the Angels an 8-6 lead. It was the veteran reliever's third loss of the season and he now owns an ugly 6.00 ERA and 1.60 WHIP over 16 appearances this year.
