Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan has reportedly agreed to restructure his contract with the team heading into a reduced salary cap season in 2021. (Zach Klein on Twitter)

Ryan and the Falcons agreed to restructure his contract, reducing it from $23 million to $21 million spread across the next three seasons via guaranteed bonus. This move reduces the Falcons' salary cap from $40.9 million down to $26.9 million. Ryan threw for 4,581 yards and 26 touchdowns for the Falcons in 2020 but will need help along the offensive line to provide more time for him to throw in the pocket, an issue that became evident as the 2020 season progressed. The NFC South promises to be one of the toughest divisions in 2021 and the Falcons opting to bring back their franchise quarterback will help establish continuity within the offensive scheme.
