Bobby Sylvester’s 2019 Week 17 Rankings (Start or Sit Answers)

Merry Christmas everyone! If you are one of those people who plays in a fantasy league that hasn’t ended quite yet, don’t worry because I’ve still got my rankings for you all. If you aren’t reading it until Saturday or Sunday, don’t worry, I’ll continue to update it every few hours for you all. As always, if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to reach out on Twitter @bobbyfantasypro. Before we dive into the rankings, let me tell you about four start/sit options that I am especially opinionated about this week.

Jared Goff (LAR): QB #6 vs ECR #11
As is often the case in this weekly article, this ranking has little to do with the quality of the player and much to do with the quality of his opponent. Sure, Goff has been playing better lately with 83 fantasy points over the last four games, primarily because he is throwing the ball 43 times per contest in that time, but really, I’d start most anyone against the Cardinals. Arizona is on its way to breaking the single-season record for fantasy points allowed to QBs.

Sony Michel (NE): RB #13 vs ECR #21
Similar to Goff, Sony has been a disappointment for most of the season. Much of that had to do with their fullback, James Develin being ruled out for the season while the Patriots offensive line dealt with their own share of injuries. Now that the line has healed and the Patriots began using linebacker, Elandon Roberts, at fullback, Michel has now seen 42 touches over the last two weeks to go with 100 yards in both games. He draws another great matchup versus the Dolphins at home so you know what to do.

Terry McLaurin (WAS): WR #45 vs ECR #17
Although McLaurin would be a solid WR2 play once again if he were active, this is more of a warning that he doesn’t seem likely to play so you should plan to proceed without him. Apparently, the majority of the industry hasn’t picked up on this yet but F1 McLaurin has been added to the injury report as he is under concussion protocol. Seeing as though he is the lone bright spot on this offense, it seems likely that Washington will opt to shut him down rather than take any chances.

Mike Gesicki (MIA): TE #19 vs ECR #14
You know the old saying, “Ride the horse that brought you?” Well, it’s stupid. What if the horse lost a freakin leg along the way? No, Gesicki didn’t lose a leg, but his matchup against the Patriots is horrendous. It doesn’t matter if you started him last week and he went off for 26 fantasy points to drag you to the championship, he isn’t playing the Bengals again. Rather, O.J. Howard, Jack Doyle and Jonnu Smith are much more sensible options.
