Fantasy Football Hot Takes: Ezekiel Elliott, Isaiah Hodgins, Geno Smith, Najee Harris (Week 16)

Fantasy Football Hot Takes: Ezekiel Elliott, Isaiah Hodgins, Geno Smith, Najee Harris (Week 16)

Week 14 was a fleeting moment of clairvoyance for me. As I expected, my crystal ball returned to its normally cloudy state last week. It wasn’t all bad. I have been pretty sharp about predicting game flows this season and Week 15 was no different.

Michael Pittman fell well short of the 25-point prediction and the Colts held a commanding 33-0 lead over the Vikings at halftime. Unfortunately, Jeff Saturday botched his first game on the day of his namesake and relinquished the largest comeback in NFL history. Sigh.

Travis Etienne rushed for over 100 yards in the Jaguars’ upset victory over the Cowboys, but was a hair shy of 120 yards and did not score a touchdown himself.

Mac Jones fell flat against the Raiders in New England’s stunning loss in Las Vegas, but Rhamondre Stevenson scored the Patriots’ only offensive touchdown late in the game and the team’s only turnover was credited to Jakobi Meyers on that fateful lateral.

The Chargers were driven to victory by Justin Herbert in a thriller, but the game was a huge scoring letdown and Derrick Henry “only” rushed for 104 yards and one touchdown.

All in all, not terrible. It’s nice to be accurate enough to be in the neighborhood. I hope to be more than “accuracy-adjacent” this week in the fantasy football semifinals. If one of these predictions helps you with a start-sit or DFS roster decision to win you money, that’s awesome. The NFL is wildly unpredictable. If we can try to guess where the improbable but plausible will occur, it could very well be the difference between winning and losing.

As always, hit me up on Twitter @Bo_McBigTime to let me know your spicy predictions and sound off on mine. I will never tame the spice level for the sake of better odds of success. Fantasy football is supposed to be fun, and I’m having an absolute blast.

Zeke and Pollard Run Wild on Eagles for 200+ Yards; Cowboys Run Away With 10-Point Win

This Eagles team is terrifying. It is the best roster in the NFL, hands down. However, they are still beatable, especially if Jalen Hurts is not in the picture. It all boils down to whether or not the Cowboys can run the ball on this Eagles’ defense. Dallas had a modest rushing day (for them) against the Jags last week, but still compiled 154 yards on the ground. We know the Eagles felt insecure about their run defense when they signed Ndamukong Suh and Linval Joseph a few weeks ago. They still allowed 157 yards on the ground to the Bears on Sunday and David Montgomery found the end zone twice. We have seen that Dak Prescott is not a standalone superstar QB. The amount of success enjoyed by Tony Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott will determine the winner of this game.

Isaiah Hodgins is a Top-10 WR This Week; Giants Steamroll Fraudulent Vikings by Two Touchdowns

Bad football teams don’t close out football games. The Colts did the same thing to the Vikings that the Cowboys did earlier in the season, but were unable to hold their water with a 33-point lead. The New York Giants are a good football team at 8-5-1 and Brian Daboll is near the top of consideration for Coach of the Year. Minnesota might be the luckiest and streakiest 10-3 team in NFL history. Their defense is squarely to blame for their recent struggles. The Giants are tissue paper-thin at WR but have still produced well enough to enjoy a successful season. Journeyman Isaiah Hodgins is one of Daniel Jones‘ favorite targets of late and has scored twice in his last three games. Minnesota really struggles to cover the middle of the field and the red zone. I’m banking on Danny Dimes to find the 24-year-old Hodgins for a touchdown in this game in addition to an uptick in volume.

Geno Smith Scorches the Field With 300 Yards and Three Touchdowns; Seahawks Upset Chiefs at Arrowhead

I am still not convinced that the Chiefs are this world-class juggernaut team. They are great, but really struggled to beat the lowly Texans last week (I predicted that too!). The Seattle Seahawks are clinging to their playoff chances behind an amazing renaissance from Geno Smith. Smith has been fantastic this season passing the ball, made more potent with rookie Kenneth Walker‘s rushing exploits. Kansas City’s defense has been a liability this season, forcing them to win more shootouts than in previous years. This game will be another one of those high-scoring contests. I foresee the Chiefs keeping with their Cover-1 scheme that often puts their suspect CBs on an island in man coverage. There is already more of an emphasis on getting DK Metcalf involved in Tyler Lockett‘s absence. More importantly, Metcalf absolutely destroys man coverage with his unique combination of size and speed. I expect a track meet in this game, even in frigid weather at Arrowhead.

Steelers Celebrate the Life of Franco Harris with Najee Harris Scoring Multiple Touchdowns Against the Raiders in Last-Minute Win.

We lost an NFL legend on Wednesday. Franco Harris was so much more than his famous “Immaculate Reception” versus the Raiders 50 years ago. He was a Pittsburgh icon and humanitarian. The Steelers were set to commemorate the 50-year anniversary of that historic game this Saturday night against Las Vegas. Now it will take on an entirely more profound form on Christmas Eve under the lights. It is fitting that the Steelers have a bruising, high-character RB named Harris on their team at present day. Najee Harris is coming on strong of late, with five touchdowns in his last five games. He draws a Raiders team that just relinquished 172 rushing yards to a gimpy Rhamondre Stevenson. I can see it now. Steelers fans are treated to another classic last-minute win over the Raiders to keep their season alive, behind the sturdy legs and sure hands of a running back named Harris. With heavy hearts, it would be a fitting tribute to Franco.
