Kirk Cousins, Redskins no closer to long-term deal

ESPN's John Keim believes it would be a "longshot" for the Washington Redskins and quarterback Kirk Cousins reach a long-term deal prior to the July 17 deadline. (ESPN)
Fantasy Impact:
With the July 17 deadline for franchise tagged players to reach a long-term deal with their respective clubs approaching on Monday, Keim believes it remains a "long shot" for anything to get done between Cousins and the Redskins. However, it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for the two sides to reach a deal in the closing hours. Since 2015 at least five players that include Dez Bryant, Demaryius Thomas, Muhammad Wilkerson, Justin Tucker and Von Miller all signed long-term deals on the day of the expiring deadline.
