RG3 blames poor season on ankle injury

by Jonathan Ebanks | Sat, Jan 31st 12:17pm EST

Washington Redskins' quarterback Robert Griffin III spoke to the media on Wednesday night at length about the ankle injury he suffered in Week 2 against Jacksonville. He said that the ankle injury was the most severe one he'd ever had and it hindered him throughout the whole season. Griffin claimed, "I could've sat out the rest of last year, with how bad my ankle was, but I felt like I could play, and I wanted to get out there and play with my guys and help them win games." (Washington Times)

Fantasy Impact:

Griffin did miss six weeks due to the injury and returned on Nov. 2 against Minnesota, only to be benched three starts later for Colt McCoy. Griffin now enters the last year of his rookie contract and he does have the talent to turn this ship around. However, injuries have plagued his career, and he needs proper coaching to re-teach him the basic mechanics and mental skills he seemed to lack in 2014. The odds are against him.
