Fantasy Baseball Injury Report: Luke Weaver, Charlie Blackmon, Carlos Correa

Fantasy Baseball Injury Report: Luke Weaver, Charlie Blackmon, Carlos Correa

Another week is in the books, and your fantasy team probably looks like a MASH unit at this point. The Fantasy Baseball Injury Report is back for Week 10 to give you all the latest news and updates from around the baseball world.

Carlos Correa (SS – HOU) hit the injured list May 29 with a fractured rib. This is another unusual story to talk about around the water cooler. Correa said he hurt his rib during a massage at his house. Regardless of how it happened, it’s a significant blow to fantasy owners. He is expected to miss four to six weeks.

Luke Weaver (SP – ARI) received the pessimistic prognosis of forearm tightness. More specifically, it is an injury to his ulnar collateral ligament and flexor pronator. He was placed on the 10-day injured list May 27. He is going to try rest instead of surgery at this point. Unfortunately, he will still likely miss at least six to eight weeks.

Charlie Blackmon (OF – COL) went on the 10-day injured list May 27, retroactive to May 24, with a calf strain. He has been doing baseball-like activities, but he does not have a set timetable for his return. Although he may still need a minor league rehab assignment, it is possible Blackmon could return as early as this week.

Here are a few more injuries to track this week.

Tommy Pham (OF – TB)
Pham has sat out the last three games with leg cramps but was reportedly available off the bench. An MRI delivered encouraging results, so he is currently listed as day-to-day and could return soon.

Hunter Dozier (1B/3B – KC)
Dozier hasn’t played since last Thursday with tightness in his thorax. He is currently working toward playing Tuesday and is listed as day-to-day.

Mitch Moreland (1B – BOS)
Boston placed Moreland on the 10-day injured list with a lower back strain May 29. He does not currently have a set date to return.

Austin Barnes (C/2B – LAD)
Barnes hit the injured list May 27 with a groin strain. He does not currently have a return date.

Justin Turner (3B – LAD)
Turner was not in the lineup from Thursday to Saturday with hamstring tightness, but he threw a walk in a pinch-hit appearance Sunday. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he expects the third baseman back in Monday’s starting lineup.

Joey Gallo (1B/OF – TEX)
Gallo was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with an oblique strain. He does not yet have a timetable for his return, but the Rangers hope he won’t miss more than two weeks.

Avisail Garcia (OF – TB)
Garcia missed Minnesota’s last three games with leg soreness. He is currently listed as day-to-day and could return early this week.

Aaron Sanchez (SP – TOR)
Sanchez left May 27’s start with an avulsion of his right middle finger. He is currently listed as day-to-day, and it is not clear how much time he will miss.

Mike Moustakas (2B/3B – MIL)
Moustakas was out of Milwaukee’s lineup Sunday with a fracture of his right ring finger. After X-rays came back negative, he is currently listed as day-to-day and is expected to avoid an IL stint.

Zack Cozart (2B/3B/SS – LAA)
Cozart hit the injured list May 28 with inflammation in his left shoulder. He does not currently have a timetable to return.

Yadier Molina (C – STL)
Molina was placed on the 10-day injured list May 31 with a tendon strain in his right thumb. He is expected to miss two to three weeks after visiting a hand specialist.

Zach Eflin (SP – PHI)
The Phillies placed Eflin on the 10-day injured list May 31, retroactive to May 28, with a mid-back sprain. He might be able to make his next start this Friday.

Updating Previous Injuries

Jose Altuve (2B – HOU): Hamstring
When Altuve went on the 10-day injured list on May 11, it looked like he could be out for the minimum. Unfortunately, that timetable continues to extend, as his rehab assignment was halted after experiencing leg fatigue. It is not clear when he will return at this point.

Scooter Gennett (2B – CIN): Groin
Gennett, who has been out all year with a groin strain, has been fielding grounders and taking batting practice. He could be two-to-three weeks away from a rehab assignment.

Nelson Cruz (DH – MIN): Wrist
On the 10-day injured list since May 17 with a wrist strain, Cruz was assigned to a Class A advanced rehab assignment Saturday and could be close to returning to the Twins.

Travis Shaw (1B/2B/3B – MIL): Wrist
Shaw has been on the 10-day injured list since May 14 with a wrist sprain. He began a Triple-A rehab assignment May 22, and it looks like he could return to the Brewers this week.

Didi Gregorius (SS – NYY): Elbow
Gregorius, who had Tommy John surgery in October, started a Triple-A rehab assignment on May 25. The Yankees expect him to return this Friday in Cleveland.

Robinson Cano (2B – NYM): Quad
Cano has been out with a quad strain since May 23. He took some grounders this week and will likely return to the Mets on Tuesday.

Fernando Tatis Jr. (SS – SD): Hamstring
Tatis has been on the 10-day injured list since April 30. He is expected to start a rehab assignment Monday and might be able to return to the Padres soon.

Corey Dickerson (OF – PIT): Shoulder
Dickerson, on the 60-day injured list with a posterior shoulder strain, commenced a Triple-A rehab assignment May 24 and may be able to return to a crowded Pirates outfield sometime in June.

Willie Calhoun (OF – TEX): Quad
Calhoun has been on the 10-day injured list with a quad strain since May 22. Originally expected to miss a month, he resumed baseball activities Saturday this week and could return to the Rangers sooner.

Tyler Glasnow (SP – TB): Forearm
Glasnow has been on the injured list since May 11 with a right forearm strain. He has been throwing and can return to the Rays no sooner than July after getting transferred to the 60-day IL.

Jameson Taillon (SP – PIT): Elbow
Tailon, who went on the 60-day IL in early May with a flexor strain, won’t resume throwing for at least another two weeks. He can return around the All-Star break at the earliest.
