Mojo Market Advice: Buy & Sell (Week 16)

Mojo Market Advice: Buy & Sell (Week 16)

In Week 15, Saints tight end Juwan Johnson saw his Mojo share price increase by 18.9% after a two-touchdown performance against the Falcons after nearly a month off. That Falcons-Saints game also benefited a couple of other players, as Rashid Shaheed used a 68-yard touchdown catch to see his price rise 17.9%, while Falcons running back Ty Allgeier saw his shares soar 17.3% after cashing in 17 carries for 139 yards and a touchdown.

On the flip side, Patriots running back Damien Harris may be getting left in the dust (down 3.5%) after teammate Rhamondre Stevenson ran for 172 yards in Harris’ absence.

We will offer a handful of NFL players each week to buy low on (whether short-term or long-term) or sell high before their prices tumble. Here is our Week 16 version of who to buy and sell.

Buy

Darius Slayton (WR – NYG): $23.01

Darius Slayton has seen seven or more targets in seven of 11 games. He has a 16% target share and has seen 30% of Daniel Jones’ air yards. Speaking of Jones, he has 17+ fantasy points in four of the last six games and had averaged 18.8 fantasy ppg in five games before Week 15. The Vikings allow the seventh-most fantasy points to quarterbacks, and their defense has allowed 400+ total yards in five of the last six.

Jerick McKinnon (RB – KC): $2.20

We may be a couple of weeks too late to add Jerick McKinnon to our profile, but he is also a great candidate to be a long-term hold, given that Kansas City’s offense should continue to be dominant as long as Patrick Mahomes is under center. McKinnon’s 34.2 fantasy points versus the Texans were the most among all running backs. He converted all eight targets into receptions, and his work in the passing game is a big reason he is the overall RB1 over the previous two weeks. He has gone over 100 scrimmage yards in that span and had multiple touchdowns in both weeks. His snap share continues to rise, as he has been on the field for 55% of the team’s plays.

Sell

D’Onta Foreman (RB – CAR): $13.55

D’Onta Foreman is coming off a 10-rush, nine-yard performance against the Steelers. His 0.9 fantasy points had him tied for 67th among all running backs in Week 15. Foreman now has fewer than nine fantasy points in three of his last four games, while teammate Chuba Hubbard played more than 60% of the snaps last week and is seeing most of the third-down work. In addition, Foreman now faces a Lions defense that, since Week 9, has allowed an average of 6.9 fantasy ppg and 3.2 yards per carry to starting running backs. Buffalo’s Devin Singletary is the only running back to surpass nine fantasy points against Detroit in that span.

DeVonta Smith (WR – PHI): $18.96

Jalen Hurts‘ sprained shoulder is a short-term concern for DeVonta Smith shareholders. Hurts is a fantasy-scoring machine, as he still finished as the QB2, QB3, QB15 and QB4 in the four weeks he did not throw a passing touchdown. There is a chance Hurts misses the Cowboys game, and the team could be cautious with him down the stretch with the NFC’s No. 1 seed one win or Vikings’ loss away from being wrapped up. Meanwhile, teammate A.J. Brown is a much safer play if Philadelphia uses a backup quarterback. He was the only receiver last week to score 20+ fantasy points (he averaged 25.3 fantasy ppg over the previous three weeks) without a touchdown. Smith has averaged 18.7 fantasy ppg over the last three games, but this is an excellent sell-high spot with Hurts’ availability in question.
